Description
eu_Cmod is a fork of CMod. Goal is to keep CMod up to date
and to enhance the UI with my own eu_mods mods. To do this
i need to remove stuff from CMod.

Main goal of eu_mods is to remove the plastic Windows Vista appearance.
Nothing against Vista, but this is a fantasy game.

I think the basic UI is ok now. I am playing with it and i dont miss anything. This version will be a code freeze and i will just work on graphics. If there is something really broken or missing let me know. Otherwise i ll move out of beta next update.

Last change: 15 october 2007

- This release is a minipatch
- started to convert to DDS images. Wont have any meaning in game, but the filessize of eu_CMod on your harddrive. If there arent any issues i ll convert allimages to DDS
- reworked the crafter window. Action icons are now closer to the action step icons and the toolbelts are closer too.
- Hotbar 4 now has shortcuts (SHIFT-x). NOTE: You should note the spells in you hotbar 4 BEFORE updating eu_CMod. Or move them temporary to one of the additional hotbars.

**GROWL** Hotfix for the broken buffs since todays (16 oct) patch:

Open the file Index in the eu_CMod folder with an editor like notepad.
Find the line

Code:
<Window filename="CMod_Buffs.xml" />
and change it to

Code:
<Window filename="CMod_Buffs-big.xml" />

This will reactivate the single column buff window. I ll have a look how to fix the problem and post a new patch if possible.

Weakness?

Hello there, I've downloaded your UI and like it a lot so far - especially since you look for the fantasy setting and immersion instead of those technical and futuristic number loaded UI's. But I seem to have an issue with the target window and so far couldn't figure out how to solve it myself (I have several single UI things installed, kind of scavenging from all of them what I like best).
Topic "weaknesses": I don't see weaknesses of my opponents but if I get that stuff inside CD_target.xml right it is inside and supposed to be icon plus text?
If yes, maybe you could change this (once I figured my failure out with none showing at all) to just the icons as with so many weaknesses I detect in group fights with the default UO it would otherwise clutter my screen pretty much. Thanks!

What does that bar do ? You mean the cycling through with Shift-x ?

Yeah, but it has a clickie on the side of the hotbar to scroll through instead of the shift-X. I guess if shift-X works, then I can just use that instead.

Shift-X will cycle through 10 hotbars?

Sorry about the long time in responding! I have attached a screen shot to show you the broken window I have mentioned in the lower posts. I am a druid and this "Identified!" pops up everytime I counterspell for the first time, and stays up even when the spells goes away.

Things are still looking good, I like the changes to the white dots and the new buff bar will be a big help (toggle?). Also thnx for adding the enw version of infomap, very cool stuff. The only problem I have for you right now is that the spell identification window is working properly. Other then that everything l see looks good!

I had a look into the identification. I cant find anything. I even logged into the default one to see what is different. I even loaded the default identification additionally into eu_CMod to see a difference. No luck Could you post a screenshot of the problem ? What class are you ?

For the FPS/Ping window: the ping & FPS number would look good with green/yellow/red text (on just the numbers) depending on how low the number is getting. Perhaps use Vanguard's Ctrl-P color options to figure out at what level they change their colors.

Usually i dont care for those numbers. I just use the clock sometimes to know when to log and sleep a bit

The pet window for my druid's rock elemental doesn't seem to control him. I need to test this more because I don't know if it is the window not responding, or if it just because the simple rock pet can't be controlled...

Thats the druids pet. It isnt controlable. I removed the ability anchor allready for those dumbfire pets. I am not sure, but i think there is no way to remove the buttons, since the game doesnt tell me what kind of pet there is. I am quite sure the default UI does it the same way.

Again, on the druid: I have a blue bar directly over my XP bar that represents my "Phenomena" points available. It is hard to judge how many points I have left without a number value. Perhaps a small circle window attached to the left side of the player health frame to give a numerical value? I know clerics have a similar point system also.

Phenomena is like Jin or Virtue. I added the small blue bar to have some visual feedback if there is Jin or not (playing a Disciple and Monk). The real points are displayed behind your Name as text like 4/15. This is original CMod.

Is there anyway to make the extremely long list of buffs go into a scrolling window? This isn't a problem in CMod, but in Vanguard at some point all the buffs scroll off the screen. They end up behind my chat window etc. Wondering if there is a cool way to handle it when I have 20+ buffs on my character.

Scollbar is an idea. I am not sure if the updater of the buffs would go into a scollable window. And the scrollbar would be visible all the time. I am curious how this will develop once raids are in game Maybe we will see some massive changes on buffs soon(ish). I predict perma buffs similar to EQ2

I was thinking about an additional multi column buff window with only icons and duration and a toggle button in the settings.

I like the DOT con change from skulls to circles, but I think the circles would stand out better as white dots rather then grey ones. And it would maintain the color scheme.

Hmm... i took the metal grey from the window. I had white ones first,the where ugly. Want them to be better visible ? I though about those grey ones, but with a tiny glow around them.

In the old CMod there was a window that had a /random 100 button, next corpse button etc... Has this been removed? I think there should be one with the following commands:

/random 100
/rope
/corpse (A setup option where you could enter a player's name so I could spam this button as I sneak Tombstones out of a dungeon WOULD ROCK)
/consent (either prompt for a name or work on the DT?)

I removed the macro bar. I didnt needed it. There is almost no logic in vanguards UI XML. Those worked only on tragets, exactly like the commands in the chat.
Why not make those macros into one of the hotbar ?


Chat windows: moving the scrolling arrows to the upper-right-top side of the chat box would make it so that those of us with 2 separate chat windows could push them together and make it look nice and clean. Not sure how this would look, but interesting idea anyways

Chat is the Default one. Didnt mod it.


You know, i think i am a casual player. I craft a lot and i harvest a lot. I do adventure once or twice a week. I am impressed by CoreUI #3 popup abilities, but i wont put time into it to have something similar. I leave that to the power players. (Heh, and i am an old and grumpy keyboard player who thinks mice are food for cats ) The UI engine is imho not documented and a few things are.. weird or halfassed. And a few things are plain hardcoded. It is very, very time consuming to learn gamevars by try and error.
Thats why i only fix things that are broken or remove things i dont need. I really do appreceate your ideas. But i hope you understand that i only can put in so and so much time into it. Some things i will never have the time to do.

OK I see what you mean about the healer bars, and how you move them. I think I found two more issues with it though (I might already know about these since you are working to change the xml for the whole healer bar thingy). If I choose to hide both the "self" and "group" bars, they always come back when I switch characters or relog. It doesn't seem to remember where I had them. Also, if I put healing spells into the Healer Hotbar, and then choose a group member and the heal them with that healer hotbar, it always targets myself and casts the spell on myself.

Aye, this bar needs a lot of work. I ll try to get it done asap.


The window I am having problems with is called: CMod_CombatAbilities
This is the window that will flash an OT's spell if I correctly identify it (When I am a spellcaster). What happens is, upon my first spell identification it places an "Identified!" icon in this window (with a big red circle with a line through it) and after this happens the icon stays up there until I relog. What is supposed to happen is it will flash an icon representing the OTs spell being cast, then the window should go away until another spell is identified. Hope that help narrow down the issue.

Ah, the window name will help alot. I ll have a look into it.


The only other minor thing I have noticed so far is when I click on my compass to display FPS/ping/time (love that little window btw, perhaps change the color of the ping and FPS text? :P ), the window will not remember to stay up if I change characters or relog.

Should be possible to save state and position. What color ?

Things are looking good eugam, here are some more comments:

I see you added the heal targets back into the game. I was unable to drag them however. I tried doing layout mode but no luck. Perhaps I was not grabbing the windows at the right location?

This one is tricky as mentioned in the changelog. I am not happy with it and i ll try to write a better xml. Here is the trick. You can drag your own minibar. Once you placed it klick it again and the others will follow. The old one wasnt dragable at all and its not that easy to make them move all together. Thats why there are two buttons in the settings to disable them But i will try to release a new one soon(ish).



I was inviting people to brotherhoods yesterday and when I right click on them, the only text I see is: "Invite to " The word brotherhood is missing. Is this a problem specific to CMOD?

I never touched this part and i never had the chance to join a brotherhood. This is a CMod problem. CMod is older then brotherhoods. Is it where you also click to invite people and inspect people ?

Will be fixed next update. The menue is just a few pixels short.


Ok I forgot to write down the frame name on this one, but its the frame that is used when identifying spells. You know, the window that pops up to the left of the OT window. Well it doesn't appear to be working for me. When I first identify a spell and it shows up it seems to work, then a generic "Identify!" window stays up and blocks all subsequent spell identifying. Have you noticed this on any testing?

Hmm... it works for me. Let me check tonight again (its noon here and i am in offfice)

Dunno.. they are offline since a week or so

Tested it all day on Sunday and it everything works great! FYI when I loaded the mod it kept all of my Default UI chat box options, which I loved. Saved me a ton of time in setting those up. Here are some thoughts:

Good to hear it worked

- Healer windows and healer buttons, they didn't seem to be active on my UI. Were these disabled? Perhaps they were off screen and I didn't see them. Other players using this mod didn't see them either... Perhaps this is on the TODO list?

The healer window will be back. There have been a few things that annoyed me ( i play healer). Thats why i disabled them until they work better.

- When I am group leader I don't see the "STAR" on my health status box, maybe put that neat-o star on the upper right of my box as well?

Do you need a reminder for being group leader ? I ll add it and the master looter as well. This is low priority though

- I liked the revamped buffs, much easier to see! Could you also enhance the Visible/Not-Visible eye and the Locked/Unlocked icon as well? Those seem small (which is good) and difficult to see. Maybe just a tad clearer.

The eye and the lock are classic CMod. Didnt touch those. Might change the icon of the eye. Low priority though

- I still want the Black Windows Vista look, but I do like the design you have chosen for dialogue boxes. Perhaps meld the two?

I am thinking about a solution. I dont want to overload the client with lots of windows to choose from. Maybe i try to write a readme on how to dis/enable the different addons in the Index.xml. Maybe i ll add numbers to the entries. Might be easy to enable/disable all with the number 3...

- It is possible to have both Vertical & Horizontal groups visible at the same time, can look funky if you enable both. Possible to make those toggle?

Again classic CMod design. I ll try to add a toggle. I have to clean up the settings anyway. I am not sure though if it will work as intended...

Edit: Doesnt work.

- Add a "Layout Mode" button to the eu_CMod options window so that I don't have to open up Vanguard settings window to re-arrange things.

Could do while cleaning up the settings.

Edit: Done

- I run on a wide screen monitor myself, and as a result I had to drag the Offensive Target windows to the right some. Is there a way to group those to preserve the original layout & orientation as I drag them to the right? (for future users)

Well, usually you change layout once, maybe twice. The UIs are designed to be flexible. I only suggest a layout with my defaults much like the default UI does. It is up to everyone to customize as much as possible and needed. I dont want to connect them , so everyone may move them where he wants.
