Interface Installation

Howdy folks,

So, before I get into this, let me please say that I've looked at the Sticky on the top, and perused through a number of threads, but I have yet to figure out why I can't get these darn things to work. Here, step by step, is what I did (Tried with both CoreUI and Minimalist)

Entered VGinterface.com --->

Clicked on Latest100 --->

Clicked on Minimalist UI (And Rufins CoreUI+ afterwards) threads---->

Ooohed and Aaahed ---->

Clicked the big Download button on the right ---->

Found my download, right clicked it and clicked Extract All. When it asked where I wanted to extract it to, I browsed and found the Program Files(x86) / Vanguard / VGUIassets / Shells, and extracted to there ---->

I then went to the Vanguard / Bin - VGclientini file, and under [UI] found "Shellname=Default" ---->

Deleted "Default" and replaced with MinimalistUI1.5 or CoreUI3, which were the names of the files I downloaded and extracted ----->

Then I saved notepad, closed it, closed everything else, then opened Vanguard, and still the same old Default UI.

What, exactly, did I miss? The Ini file doesn't changed. It stays how I saved it. But the UI in-game doesn't change either. Keep in mind, please, that I'm horribly computer stupid, but I figured the instructions on this site were easy enough that even I couldn't screw it up. Apparently I was mistaken.

Anywho, help would be greatly appreciated. And thanks for all the work with creating these awesome UIs.

Check to see if you have a duplicate set of those files in another location. This was an issue that I found when I allowed the installer from SOE to do it's thing on my wifes system.
To Mod her UI I found the files in this location aswell and where you origially looked:

Local Disk/Users/Public/Sony Online Entertainment/Installed Games/ Vanguard/VGUIAssests/Shells/

Hopefully this helps you out.

Ha! Thank you! Apparently I did have a duplicate VG file lyin' around my Computer, and I had been putting the UI into the "wrong" one. Ended up uninstalling the file that I thought was the duplicate, and it ended up being the actual client, so I went ahead and just uninstalled/deleted everything VG related from my machine, and started from scratch. And Voila!
