Change to Chat History Activation

Hello Zowch,

I've had many people report problems with using my G15 keys while running by using the arrow keys. What happens is that they hit the G15 key which sends a key combo at the same time they are also pressing the up arrow. When the key combo uses Ctrl-Shift combos the up arrow is interpreted as shift up arrow and throws the user into chat. I don't see any way to completely seperate the two combos, but if you change the shift-up-arrow to not work unless the we're already in chat mode, then the problem would be significantly reduced if not eliminated entirely.

I also have reports that it's not just Ctrl-Shift combos as well. I already switched the G15 profile in my mod to use Ctrl-Alt combos. But people are still reporting problems with this occasionally.

Alt-Up and Shift-Up do the same thing. So changing your keys to do Ctrl-Alt instead of Ctrl-Shift won't fix anything.

I'm hesitant to change it so that an unfocused chat window does not accept the keystrokes, because for one, its a standard that EQ1 and WoW follow (among other games, I'm sure), and for two, I like it the way it is :P

However, I *can* change it so that it only works with a single meta-key, e.g. Shift-Up or Alt-Up will work, but Ctrl-Shift-Up, Alt-Shift-Up, etc. will not work. This should resolve your issue.
