I'm not sure where to post this so I'll just post it here.

I'm using DefaultPlus UI and the button that brings up the webbrowser cannot be moved or hidden it just sits there in the middle of the screen...

It's a bit annoying. Am I missing something or is a fix on the way?

I am the author of default plus, i can check this issue today. The Infomap wasn't altered with Default Plus, so I am not sure of the top of my head.

After checking this issue, there are 2 ways to alter this:
  1. Go to Setting --> interface and click layout mode. This will allow you to move the button if you still want it on your screen. (You might have to move your mouse in different spot around the button to be bale to grab the button.
  2. You can also go to Vanguard--> VGUIAssest --> Shells --> DefaultPlus --> Map --> UI Customizer. Run UI Customizer.exe to alter what is in game and what isn't. This will also alter help your frames per second, so its helpful to turn off what you don't need.

You do need to be in layout mode first when you try to move the hotbars/buttons from InfoMap. Also grab them at the very edge to pick them up.

Default gray map / bad pointer

Ive had a couple problems for some time and just now was told its not a vg problem but its infomap. Almost always when I relog from character select the minimap turns gray and/or the minimap pointer stops functioning. I have to do a /reload, sometimes multiple times. Is there a fix for this? Also the quest log location buttons sometimes stop working requiring a relog to fix. Dunno if thats infomap as well though.

It is not a problem with InfoMap. These kinds of things are symptoms of long-standing bugs in Vanguard's handling of the UI. It is possible for a particular combination of UI mods to aggravate the problems in Vanguard, sure. It's also possible to get these problems with the default UI.

The "black maps" syndrome is legendary. It comes and goes, but only affects a small number of people. I'm sorry to hear you're one of them. I tried a long time ago to nail down a combination of factors which triggered that one but with no success.

Now your other symptoms however, they also sound familiar and I can suggest something for that.

There is a limit to how many items Vanguard can display in a UI window. If it overflows, parts of the UI window start to break. In this case, an excessive number of ingame PoIs (quest locations, etc.) can break the minimap window causing loss of the pointer, and the +/- buttons in the default UI.

Chances are you're playing on a pretty old character and have built up a lot of locations over time. Go into the Location tab and clear out lots of stuff in there that you don't need. Do this for all the continents, delete locations from each. Restart the game, and things should stop breaking then.

Also if you are using a CustomPoINames.txt file to load in your own PoIs, be aware that they count towards the total as well. It's a limit per map, not an overall total.

I would be very curious to know if clearing out your locations removes or lessens the black maps problem as well, or if that is entirely unrelated? Do let me know please.

InfoMap Advanced v2.4

Improvements in this version:
  • Halls of the Pantheon maps finished, with details added for the vaults and the Chamber of Life.
  • Text layer updated with additional dungeons and outposts.
  • Diplomacy/miscellanous layer updated with additional target PoIs, including locations for the Magi Hold bosses.
  • Data layers updated with more resources and services.
  • Hotbars now appear as solid grey blocks in layout mode. Although you can no longer see the buttons in layout mode, this makes positioning the hotbars much easier. No more grabbing them carefully by the edges to move them!
Some screenshots:

As usual, there are 2 versions of InfoMap available to download:
  • The normal version can either be used on it's own or dropped into a "full" UI mod like Drox, Core, etc.
  • The combined InfoMap + MiniCards + GearSwitcher version which will add all 3 UI mods to an otherwise default UI.

goto "....>>>Vanguard\VGUIAssets\Shells\DroxUI271\Map\H otbarComponents" or where you will find "HotbarRedirector.xml"
just rename or change .xml to .txt. This will remove the button for good.

This is a very bad suggestion and not the approach to take with any UI mod. It may look like you've removed the button window, but you haven't.

The actual definition for the redirector button window is elsewhere in the InfoMap UI mod, up in VGUIMap.xml. Hacking out a file which provides a component of a window like this does not stop the client attempting to produce that window - it only causes it to fail on the attempt. Rather than reducing UI lag by removing the window from what the client will draw, you are quite possibly increasing it instead, effectively slowing down the game.

This is exactly why the UI Customizer application was written - to enable players to easily remove unwanted components, to do it permanently, and to do it correctly across the multiple XML files involved such that it reduces the load on the client for people with low spec PCs.

Hacking files out is also not a permanent solution - it only lasts until the next release. The UI Customizer allows players to save a profile of all the components they do and don't want, and reload that same profile quickly for a new release.

As a side note there is also the option to hide hotbars (without permanently removing them) from within the InfoMap options window ingame. This is useful if you want certain components in your UI layout for some alts but not others.

My goodness, it's been a while. Almost 4 years since I was here last.

Hi, Soresha

InfoMap work ok with the new F2P install? I haven't had a chance yet to get everything dl'd yet.

PS: Good to see you're still around.

Hey Drakonar!

The current 2-year old version of InfoMap "works", but breaks the new marketplace windows.

There's a new version of InfoMap coming imminently (i.e tomorrow if I get everything finished!)
