They removed the need for ShellName = Default in one of the patches a long time ago so it doesn't exist for everyone. Simply find the [UI] section in the ini and add the ShellName entry.

[Version]
VanguardINIVersion=14
[FirstRun]

[UI]
ShellName=CoreUI3

I think all my code validates, or at least as much as theirs, but you may want to add the ValidateXML=false so you don't get any errors.

Default Install Attempt

I have no problem downloading and extracting the UI docs, nor finding the UI ShellName Location. What happens with me is that I try and save, but it won't save. How do I do this procedure running as Administrator? I have an I7 with 64 bit. Thanks!

I am having the same problem as the previous poster. I can't get the dang .ini file to save.

some background info: I don't use Vista, I'm running xp. I don't have a [UI] section in the .ini file, so I have tried to create one right underneath the [general] as you've stated in your directions. Every single time I log into the game, it removes what I have done and replaces it with the default shell. (it also erases the change I've made to the .ini). What am I doing wrong?

I've tried saving the .ini to the desktop and then copying it over to the bin folder, no go. I've saved the .ini, then logged into the game on the character screen, no go. I've been logged into the game, on a character, then changed and saved the .ini, no go.

Any ideas? Please help. I am really getting into this game, but the one thing to make it prime would be the ability to change this and that (major one would be the map system). any advice would be appreciated.

Did you try r-cklicking (select properties) the .ini file and check permissions so that it is not read-only?
(uncheck the read-only box)

Ok so I just got Vangaurd back installed and the UI is terrible. Core UI 3 looks great but after trying to install it the game will no longer run. I followed the simple steps editing the shellname in the ini file. It is the exact same name Caps and all of the UI folder "CoreUI3GU5".

When I hit play it opens the initial splash screen then goes to the black screen like the game is loading but then it just closes with no message or anything just gone. Tried restarts and running as admin doesnt change anything. Changing the .ini file back to default the game loads fine. Also tried with Drox and it does same thing.
